What is Yoga? If you are new to Yoga, the definition goes like, Yoga is the interactive union of physical attributes and the universal consciousness. Yoga is a profound science evolving for about 5000 years. It is not to be taken as a set of physical exercises. Styles of Yoga

 
There are numerous different styles of yoga. The teachers at Shri Rama Ashram will enlighten you about them if you are interested. A general overview of a few different styles are given here
 

Ashtanga Yoga The word Ashtanga literally means 'Eight Limbs'. These Eight Limbs are defined by Patanjali as Yama (abstinences), Niyama (observances), Asana (postures), Pranayama (breath control), Pratyahara (sense withdrawal), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation), and Samadhi (contemplation). Ashtanga yoga, when practised in the right sequence, lets you achieve you utmost co-ordination between your physical, psychological and spiritual consciousness

Hatha Yoga Hatha Yoga is designed synchronize the metabolism of your skin, muscles and bones. It is also defined as a scheme for striking a balance between the opposing entities within the human. Your vibrant, hot and demanding nature assumes a moderate grade towards a cool, receptive and hospitable attitude. Hatha yoga induces the proper balance
